Our first travels together
Four cities in two weeks
Three years before Barbara and I married, we decided a trip to Europe was a great idea. Then, as now, she did most of the itinerary, from which cities to which hotels. Among the tidbits that came from that trip: a) although I had applied, my American Express card did not show in my mailbox until return to Terre Haute; b) although I was using mostly travelers checks, the person at the Qantas counter took a personal check for our tickets to Vienna; c) getting sick on a pizza that was covered in olive oil is not the best thing when throwing up in the middle of the night in a 14th century Venetian building that has a marble bathroom; d) there’s no place like home.
